Pt has hx of prostate CA, with radiation therapy in 2016, was given 40 treatmensts of HBO 2 years ago with indications of gross hematuria with resolution.

2 months ago, his gross hematuria has returned, with cystoscopy revealing no active bleeding site. Pt referred to our center by Urologist. Would the pt benefit from another round of HBOT.

It is going to be important to review the past history and establish the previous work up details. The importance of current work up in addition to a cystoscope is Ct urogram and urine analysis, It is going to be important to rule out any other cause for hematuria. In most of my reviews of cystoscopic reports, the urologist often will describe some bladder wall defect that is consistent with radiation cystitis. Assuming that in fact the completed urologic work up has excluded other causes of hematuria, and the cystoscope suggests radiation cystitis, and clinically we believe this is radiation cystitis, another course of hBO can be indicated. There are instances in which one may have recurrent episodes of radiation cystitis. I would have your provider have a conversation with the urologist for further discussion.
